If you have been keeping up with controversial music topics over the last week and a half, you already know there is fire brewing in M.I.A.’s camp. There was an article written recently about the singer who did not take too kindly to what New York Times reporter Lynn Hirschberg had to say. M.I.A. is continuing to fire back and has released a new song called “I’m a Singer” in response to the article.

M.I.A.’s fiery new song is fueled with lyrics like, “Why the hell would journalists be thick as sh-t? Cause lies equals power equals politics.” I am shocked at the backlash M.I.A. is taking at Hirschberg. Last week, M.I.A. posted the reporter’s phone number on her Twitter account which resulted in phone calls to Hirschberg, who said most of the calls were from people looking to hook up with M.I.A.

I want to know what you all think of M.I.A.’s actions towards the person who wrote the article. Do you believe she is justified in fighting back to keep her reputation? Or do you think she is making herself look worse by releasing songs and personal information on Twitter?
