Gaga Mania Rules 2010 Summer Concerts

by Nicole on June 16th, 2010 2 Comments

If you have been doing research and trying to decide what concert you would most like to attend this summer, there is no doubt that you have run across Lady Gaga’s name a few times. Lady Gaga’s “Monster Ball Tour” is definitely the big seller of summer 2010 and we have the data to prove it.

For everything you need to know about this summer’s concerts and music festivals, check out our Summer Concerts Guide.

Fans have commented on the tour after seeing the show and here is a quote from one concertgoer, “Her use of videos as backdrops and intermissions combined with her ever-changing outfits made this concert more like a play of sorts…” So, if you are planning on seeing Mother Monster (as she is known to her fans) sometime in the near future, here are the things you can expect from her show.

• Multiple costume changes
• Intense visual show – lights and video
• Extensive dance sequences
• Some sexually charged parts of her set

Lady Gaga Premieres "Alejandro" Video

by Nicole on June 8th, 2010 3 Comments

Check out coverage of Lady Gaga’s 2012 tour dates or buy Lady Gaga tickets right here at SeatGeek.com, the web’s largest ticket search engine.

Lady Gaga has (finally) released her video for “Alejandro”! Watch the video below and continue reading to see my thoughts.

First of all, let’s talk about the overall theme. We obviously see that it has something to do with war, death, and religion – or is that just the tip of the iceberg? I have already been reading through comments and the video is having the same effect on people that the “Telephone” video had – confusion. People keep asking, “What is this video about?” “What does this have to do with the song?” Unfortunately, I cannot give that answer. Hopefully Lady Gaga will give the answer to her fans soon. What do you think might be the big picture here?

People are also wondering where the strange bowl cuts fit into the video. I am assuming that it has something to do with the war theme and that many of the “soldiers” in the video are supposed to look like they have bowl cuts from their helmets. Or, as another commenter suggested, since Gaga is playing a “nun” type role, the bowl cuts could also have something to do with a “monk” theme, since many monks are portrayed with bowl cuts.

Eroticism develops as the plot continues to form and I believe it has something to do with the lyrics. As the second verse comes in, we hear Lady Gaga sing, “But her boyfriend’s like her dad, just like her dad,” and during this scene in the video we see Gaga showing dominance over the male character, but later in the video we see him basically using her like a rag doll. I am trying to piece this together and it seems like the “boyfriend” and “dad” in the song abuse the girl that is being sang about, and Lady Gaga is using eroticism to express that. On the other hand, a commenter on YouTube suggested that this video represents Lady Gaga saying “goodbye” to all of her past lovers.

My favorite part of the video is the dance sequence that occurs at 4:11. I absolutely love the fluidity of the choreography. At 7:04 in the video, I would love to know what she is trying to portray. At first it seemed like she was fighting, trying to get to the man who represents “Alejandro”, but at second glance, I am not so sure.

Many people are comparing this video to material that Madonna would also make. I cannot say that I necessarily disagree with that statement, but I also believe Lady Gaga is making a name for herself and making big hits with her own material. This video is artistic and different and if you are a fan of Lady Gaga, you will enjoy watching this performance. It shows how much time and effort Lady Gaga devotes to her projects.

I hope you readers enjoy the video as much as I did. Again, it is confusing but I do think it is a work of art and there is no doubt that people will be talking about this video for days to come.

Review of the Most Searched Concerts Happening This Summer

by Nicole on May 28th, 2010 3 Comments

Here at SeatGeek we closely monitor what things are being searched on our site. Surprisingly, one of the biggest searches taking place recently was for Nickelback’s current tour. Not surprising, the other was Lady Gaga. I want to share some information with you that I have found about their tours so you can decide if you would like to see either of these performances live.

First, I would like to give a brief review of what I have heard about Nickelback’s tour. I looked at Live Nation to see what people who had actually been to the concert were saying about it. One user commented on May 24, 2010 by saying, “I have been to a lot of concerts and they were the BEST.” As I continued reading through some of the other posts, it seemed that many concert-goers were impressed by the pyrotechnic show that occurs during Nickelback’s set. I also continuously read statements about how this was the best concert these users had ever seen. So if you think you might be interested in a Nickelback concert and you want to see if they are coming to your area, check SeatGeek here and see what ticket prices are looking like!

To continue on, I want to provide you with a review of Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball tour. This is probably the most highly anticipated concert of the year. Personally, I tried to get tickets to her New York show and it was sold out within 30 minutes. Sadly to say, I will not be able to go to her show this summer, but she is returning to her home city in February 2011, so hopefully I will be able to catch a glimpse of Miss Gaga then. Anyway, I looked at the New York Post and Live Nation to see what people were saying about her show.

Many have described the Monster Ball tour as a high-octane show with multiple costume changes and a lights and video show that will blow your mind. Lady Gaga is trying to get to the “Monster Ball”, so her concert takes the audience through her journey of trying to get to the big event. The New York Post’s review listed a few different details about the show that you might be interested in. First of all, it says that not only did the fans love the music, but they really enjoy Lady Gaga’s sense of style. If you have seen any pictures of her on red carpets or elsewhere, then you know that her style is very eclectic. The Post also said that Lady Gaga feeds off her audience’s energy, almost like it charges her, in a way, to give a great performance.

One user on Live Nation stated this in his/her concert review on March 25, 2010, “Her use of videos as backdrops and intermissions combined with her ever-changing outfits made this concert more like a play of sorts…” This user’s comment was positive, as were many others on the page. One thing fans should be wary of though, is bringing small children to Lady Gaga’s show. Some of the songs are sexually charged, as are the acts that go along with those songs.

Finding tickets to a Lady Gaga concert is quite a difficult feat, but it is possible. Click here to see when she might be coming to your town and to see if there are tickets available.

I hope you all can get out there and enjoy some of these concerts this summer! Feel free to comment and let me know if you have seen either of the concerts I mentioned and let me know what you thought about them. If you have seen another show you would like to discuss, do that too!
