MUTEMATH - Band History

MUTEMATH began in 2003 in New Orleans, pieced together from the ashes of Earthsuit. The band's first major release was Reset EP, which was put out via their own Teleprompt Records, and later through Warner Music Group. In 2006, after some legal scuffle with Warner, the band self-released Mutemath - perhaps the most important album of the band's career. The band's management claims the album sold almost ten thousand copies in the month following its inception. Regardless of its sales, the album was critical in garnering the band many of the fans they have today. Listeners fell in love with its experimental and electronic flavor, allowing MUTEMATH to build a strong cult following. In 2009, the band released Armistice which peaked at number 18 on U.S. Billboard charts and number 4 on Billboard Rock charts, confirming the band's success. One of the album's singles, Spotlight, was featured on a Twilight soundtrack, further helping the band bolster their popularity. MUTEMATH - The Music

For most of their career, MUTEMATH have played experimental rock music with electronic influences.
