Nashville Pussy Tickets - Obscene Name, But Definitely Not Lame
That was the epitome of one sub-genre called 'sleaze rock,' a type of rock music that emphasized obscenity and sexual innuendo. The kings of that genre were none other than the Nashville Pussy! Great name, I agree. But even greater are the members of the Pussy: straight out of Atlanta, you have the husband/wife duo of singer/guitarist Blaine Cartwright and guitarist Ruyter Suys with bass guitarist Corey Parks and drummer Jeremy Thompson. The band was formed in 1996 and earned the record label Amphetamine Reptile in 1998 to release their first album.
Nashville Pussy Tickets - The Music of the Pussy
The name of it was a rather aptly named title: Let Them Eat Pussy. The band struck more gold, though, when Mercury Records got hold of them, signing them to a major deal that led to a Grammy nomination for Best Heavy Metal Performance. The song up for the award was 'Fried Chicken and Coffee.' Pussy kept pushing forward with another label change -- Artemis Records -- leading to another album entitled Say Something Nasty in 2002 and a live DVD entitled Keep on F*uckin' in Paris! in 2003 followed by a two-year wait for the Get Some! album and 2009's From Hell to Texas.

They rocked, obviously -- but no one could deny the raunchy sex appeal as a means to draw the crowd and super-charge the performances. Nashville Pussy did for sex what Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie did for horror. It's just as simple as that.
