Singer, songwriter and pianist Neil Sedaka has been around music all his life, to the heights of stardom and back. Born in 1939 in Brooklyn, New York, Neil Sedaka was a piano prodigy by the time he was 8 years old. He won a scholarship to the Juilliard School of Music in 1956, and studied classical music while writing his pop tunes. He formed a band called The Tokens while still in high school and enjoyed regional success before breaking out on his own in 1957, and scored a deal with RCA Victor.
