Rock musical Next to Normal tells the story of a struggling suburban mother with bi-polar disorder and her family who is affected by her illness. The musical, which opened on Broadway in 2009, won various awards including three Tony Awards for Best Original Score, Best Orchestration and Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for Alice Ripley.
