A Look at Oak Ridge Boys tickets

The Oak Ridge Boys have been around a lot longer than people think. Though the country and gospel vocal quartet enjoyed a lot of success on and off since the 1970s, the group started way back around the time of World War II, performing as the Oak Ridge Quartet, and at one point as Wally Fowler and the Georgia Clodhoppers. Several personnel changes later, the Oak Ridge Boys morphed into the modern quartet that they perform as today, singing country-based gospel, some pop and even some crossover to rock. The current lineup of lead vocalist Duane Allen, tenor Joe Bonsall, baritone William Lee Golden, and bass Richard Sterban signed with Spring Hill Records in 2000 and has recorded several gospel albums during the past decade, including From the Heart in 2001, Common Thread in 2005, and The Boys Are Back in 2009, which scored well on country Billboard charts. The group still tours extensively, playing more than 150 shows a year, frequently at the Oak Ridge Boys Theatre in Branson, Missouri.

Big-Time Era

The Oak Ridge Boys brushed international renown in the late 1970s and early 1980s when they recorded with Columbia, toured Russia with country star Roy Clark, and appearing on top talk shows with Mike Douglas and Merv Griffin. In 1976, Paul Simon enlisted the group to sing backup vocals on his single 'Slip Slidin' Away.'
