Honestly, the best thing about some hard rock straight out of Canada is this spiritual, soulful sense of the guitar and the riffs that come with it -- sort of like Nickelback and Saliva. Here, though, we have a rock band signed to Relativity Records, from Canada, that was formed in 1992, and they presented a more soulful style of rock music. The band's name was Our Lady Peace.Headed by frontman Raine Maida, you were introduced to the talents of drummer Jeremy Taggart, bass guitarist Duncan Coutts, and guitarist Steve Mazur. This is what they had to offer -- and believe me, it was a lot!

Their first album was called Naveed, and it introduced the rock industry to the massive hit 'Starseed' in 1995. They continued on with their work with Clumsy in 1997, plus Happiness Is Not a Fish That You Can Catch in 1999. 2001 saw the release of Spiritual Machines and then Gravity in 2002. They were at their seventh album to date when Healthy in Paranoid Times debuted in 2005. Our Lady Peace, of course, is probably best known for their tremendous hit 'Somewhere Out There,' a truly spiritual rock anthem.

To be fair, they're not to be outdone by any other Canadian bands like Nickelback. But Our Lady Peace definitely stood on their own with their own style. You could probably characterize them as a combination of 30 Seconds to Mars and a bit of Breaking Benjamin. They knew how to jam, but they weren't the typical angst alternative band many were used to. Their music was positive -- and that was a refreshing change for the genre.
