Powerman 5000 began with a little man by the name of Michael Cummings -- also known as Spider One, or MC Spider, or as the frontman of the band simply named Spider, or better yet as the legendary Rob Zombie's little brother! Yes, this Boston-based electro-metal band began with Conscience Records taking the helm for the debut album. With Spider at the front and guitarists Adam Williams (also known as Adam 12) and Mike Tempesta (also known as M.33), they took their genre by storm and proved that they can be unique separate from the death metal force that was Rob Zombie.

1995 was the year that after signing with their label hailed the release of their debut album, The Blood Splat Rating System. Only two years later did they sign with Dreamworks to release a reworked version of their debut with the title of Mega!! Kung Fu Radio. The band definitely did stir up a lot of word about the type of rock music Powerman was putting out, so a second album debuted in 1997, entitled Tonight the Stars Revolt!, an album that went platinum thanks to the chart-topping singles 'When Worlds Collide' and 'Nobody's Real.' 2001 saw the release of their third album entitled Anyone for Doomsday?, and Transform -- the fourth album -- marked the ability for Powerman 5000 to revolutionize their sound how they saw fit, opting for experimentation. They became so prolific with their work, particularly Spider's work, that they even released their very own record label: Megatronic.
