Rancid Tickets - A Power Rock-Punk Band Like No Other

To be fair, punk music had their fair share of tremendous acts, and the genre wasn't in need of anything new. That didn't stop one outfit in 1991 from creating their own group. San Francisco members guitarist and vocalist Tim Armstrong and bass guitarist Matt Freeman joined together with drummer Brett Reed to form the group Rancid under the label Lookout! Records in 1992.

They later joined up with Epitaph Records to release an eponymously titled full-length album in 1993 and also signed up a second guitarist to join the fray: Lars Frederiksen. 1995 saw the release of the second album, entitled ...And Out Come the Wolves, featuring the radio and MTV hit 'Ruby Soho.' Other such hits were 'Time Bomb' and 'Roots Radical.' In 1998, Rancid came back with yet another album titled Life Won't Wait, plus a self-titled follow-up in 2000. 2003 also saw another album called Indestructible, and for sure the band was on their way to major stardom.

Their name had no similarity to their sound and style. But their personalities echoed that wild nature of punk. Traditionally, though, Rancid was a ska band, heavy on the instrumentals but with the energy of Sum 41. That was definitely part of their charm.
