Refused reunites (Updated December 26, 2012)

Fans of Refused got one last go-around with their favorite musicians in 2012, as the hardcore band embarked on a reunion tour after once declaring they would never get back together.
The run officially ended on December 15 with a show in their hometown of Umea, Sweden at the Excel arena. They were joined on the farewell tour by fellow Swedes Randy, Two White Horses and Rad Kjetil Senza Testa.

The band's leader Dennis Lyxzen posted a message on their Facebook page shortly thereafter, thanking fans for coming out to support the run of shows. The long-awaited reunion was originally announced on January 9, 2012 and included shows at Coachella, Roack am Ring, Ruisrock, Froskilde Festival, Groezrock, Way Out West Festival and many other venues.

The band was originally together for seven years (from 1991 to 1998), but released five EPs and three full-length albums before calling it quits. Among them was the 1998 effort "The Shape of Punk to Come," which was listed as one of the 50 Most Influential Albums of All Time by Kerrang! Magazine.
After the split, the band members all kept busy in different endeavors. To a point, they also believed a reunion would be highly irrelevant until they actually started making new music. Then came the call from Coachella, and Refused was back on the road again, driving home their radical left and anti-capitalist politics for which they've become famous.

Now that the reunion is over, Lyxzen is recording a new album with a post-punk project called Invasionen. Drummer David Sandstrom is working on music with Refused bassist Magnus Flagge and guitarist Kristofer Steen. And Guitarist Jon Brannstrom is also working on some musical projects during his final year of medical school.
