Get addicted to Rehab (Created March 13, 2013)

If you're a Southern Rock or alternative hip-hop fan, you've probably used the phrase "Let's go to Rehab" once or twice and hadn't been referring to a treatment center for addiction. Instead, the reference was probably aimed at a band most popular for its 2008 hit, "Bartender Song (Sittin' at a Bar)". This colorful cast of characters, with former members holding nicknames like "Steaknife," has been making music for more than 15 years.

So what if the story behind Rehab isn't exactly original? Yes, the band was actually formed as a trio after Denny Campbell (aka Steaknife) came together with Danny (Boone) Alexander and Jason Brooks (Brooks Buford), both recovering alcoholics and drug addicts. When they met at a local rehab facility in Georgia and connected over their love of music, Rehab was born.

While they independently produced their first album, "To Whom It May Consume," Rehab was quickly offered a record deal. It nearly went south after Campbell was incarcerated, but Alexander and Brooks clicked as a duo by meshing rap and rock. Their major label debut, "Southern Discomfort," bowed in 2000 on the Sony Label, but they split after spending two years on the road trying to support the album.

Retaining the name and recruiting four new musicians helped Boone rehab Rehab. Over the next few years, this new incarnation would be responsible for four different albums, and songs such as "Bottles & Cans," "Drinkin' Problem," and the aforementioned "Sittin' at a Bar." They've found more moderate success branching out from modern rock to a more country sound, and even reached the Top 30 video countdown on CMT in 2011.
