About Romeo Santos: From Aventura to solo artist

Romeo Santos is a composer and former lead singer of the Bachata group Aventura. Often called a charismatic and captivating performer, the Bronx native has been writing and performing since he was just a teen.

From the beginning, Romeo's love of penning songs would lead him in the right direction to kick start a career. He became a member of his church choir with his cousin Henry, and shortly thereafter, the pair would join Max and Lenny Santos to form the quartet that would take bachata music and mesh it with hip hop and R&B sounds. The end result was a string of hits like "Obsesion," "Cuando volveras," "Todavia me amas," "Hermanita" and so many more.

However, the story of Aventura is only a small part of the musician Romeo Santos has become.

Today, Romeo is a jack of all trades in the industry. As a producer, composer and vocalist he has captured awards from ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers) and Billboard. As performed and recorded by Aventura, "Obsesion" took on a life of its own and was recorded by artists around the world. In 2006 a cover of the song by Frankie J was No. 1 on the mainstream charts for nearly 22 weeks, winning Romeo the ASCAP Song of the Year in both tropical music and American pop.

In music circles, it is known that Romeo is extremely selective in the artists he now writes for. Beyond that, his solo debut album, entitled "Formula," bowed in 2011. All of the Bachata tracks were written, arranged and produced by only one man – Romeo.
