Who (or what) is a Space Capone? Five years after their debut album, we're still trying to figure it out.
Guided by lead singer Aaron Winters, AKA Space, the group's influence seems to thrive on the sounds of funk, soul and R&B. In fact, not much has changed since their debut album "Volume 1: Transformation" was released in the spring of 2008, expect for the fact that Space Capone's crowds have seemingly doubled in size since its early days. (Leading to the release of their self-titled album in late 2012 under AVJ Records).

Though Winters once said, "We've arrived on this planet to help save people from bad music," he wasn't exactly joking. The group is comprised of horns, electronics and a rhythm section of young musicians who are scholars of Space Capone's unique sound. It's a move designed to get them away from being labeled a 'novelty act,' and it sure seems to have done the trick. Not only have they blown up in their home community in Nashville, they've attracted a wide range of fans – everyone from young kids to hipsters. And Winters wouldn't have it any other way.

Though Winters' designation of Space Capone is actually an artist and not a band, per say, he points out the novelty of their live shows as being a revolving door of cast members. For instance, the drummer is always different and the keyboardist changes with every show. Then there are the bass player, the two guitarists and the horns… all elements that help Winters change into a 'different character' when he's on stage.

Always known for singing in falsetto, Space Capone and its 6-10 piece band continues to thrive on the live experience. Be sure to check them out at festivals like Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits and more.
