Thanks to all the David Bowie's and Boy George's, glam rock had its place in the music genre -- and without a doubt, a little-known band at the time by the name of Spacehog revolutionized it. Founded in New York City in 1993, the members of Spacehog -- British drummer Jonny Cragg, British guitarist Antony Langdon, vocalist Royston Langdon, and guitarist Richard Steel -- entered the scene in the hopes to reinvent an industry and create music that would rocket imagination to the highest heights. They did, thanks to Sire Records in 1995.

The debut album was called Resident Alien, and band's mega hit 'In the Meantime' sent the Spacehog through a wormhole of wow and wonder, fantastic stardom. In less than a year, the album earned gold status in selling over 500,000 copies and allowing the band to work on a second album. The Chinese Album was released in 1998 with a cameo from Michael Stipe for a little extra artsy taste. It earned them enough flavor to get a third effort going by the name of The Hogyssey, proving that a novelty in music could withstand the onslaught of the tried and true in music.

Mixing styles of U2 with an electronic sound that could only be described as U2's 'Discotheque' era only with flair and pizzazz and without that mockery mentality, Spacehog had something going, the sound of the instrumentals obviously touching on a sort of space mentality. As if you were spinning around slowly in orbit, really. Royston had something going with his deep, melodious, and rather almost comedic style of vocals. It made Spacehog enjoyable to listen to.
