Strung Out - Band History

Strung Out began in 1992 in Simi Valley, California. Not long after, they signed to Fat Wreck Chords and became one of the first bands on their roster. In 1994, they released their debut album Another Day in Paradise. It would not be until An American Paradox in 2002, however, that the band would crack U.S. Billboard charts. They would land on the charts again in 2007 with Blackhawks Over Los Angeles, peaking at number 5 on Billboard Top Heatseekers charts and number 33 on Top Independent Albums charts. The album included the single Calling, which was featured on MTV's Nitro Circus, as well as Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. In 2009, the band released Agents of the Underground, which marked their 7th studio album - quite an accomplishment for a band that has lasted nearly two decades. Strung Out - The Music

Strung Out are one of the few bands in the punk scene to combine punk rock with a strong metal influence. This is especially audible on Agents of the Underground, which features both fast, driving punk melodies and sinister metal riffs. Also of note: The band almost dabbles with pop-punk tones on closer Andy Warhol, perhaps a sign of things to come in terms of future musical direction. Lyrically, the band has historically been concerned with politics, although they frequently dress their message up in eloquent prose. Cities burn and fall into the sea. When all faith is lost you believe in me? When the darkness falls never to be seen again by anyone, they sing on Heart Attack. It is not hard to see why Strung Out is considered legends at their craft.
