Superdrag Tickets - Knoxville Rocks in the '90s
Enter: the homely state of Tennessee, home of one guitar player by the name of Brandon Fisher. He had an idea not only to play some good music, but also date the cousin of one frontman with flair by the name of John Davis. Needless to say, the connection was there and began working on a band and name. Things clicked and they met up with a guy named Tom Pappas, a talented bass guitar player, and Don Coffey Jr. on the drums -- the result was a band by the name of Superdrag! Thanks to Elektra Records taking notice, the band's journey to super-stardom began.
Superdrag Tickets - The Music of the Drag
Of course, this wasn't some transvestite thing -- far from it. Their music was hard rock edgy and blistering. Their first album with the label was Regretfully Yours in 1996, featuring the hit single 'Sucked Out.' They had another single released under the album called 'Destination Ursa Major' as well. Despite the lack of radio play, Elektra financed the possibility for a second album, and 1998's Head Trip in Every Key was the result.
Superdrag Tickets - The Sound and Style of the Drag
Needless to say, the second album didn't stir much of a response, but only because the creativity within the band went through leaps and bounds unheard of in the music industry. For instance: the second album itself was so radio-unfriendly -- the reason being, this was an album that was filled to the brim with all kinds of experimentation, such as orchestras, piano, sitars, organs, and other strange instrumentation. Superdrag literally took the concept of alternative music to a whole new level.
