About Supertramp
The Story of Supertramp tickets
The British progressive rock group Supertramp has performed with several personnel groupings during their long careers, and have gone on long hiatuses at times, but their contributions to rock have been substantial. After forming in 1969, Supertramp recorded one album, Supertramp (a name taken from the W. H. Davies book The Autobiography of a Supertramp (1910), then disbanded for two years before reforming in 1971 with new members. That group, Rick Davies on vocals and keyboards, Roger Hodgson, vocals, guitar, other instruments, and John Helliwell on keys and woodwinds, with other musicians, recorded a second album, Indelibly Stamped with limited success. But with the group's release, in 1974, of Crime of the Century, Supertramp hit the big time. A semi-concept album, it included the hits 'Bloody Well Right' and 'Dreamer' and launched the band into mainstream stardom. Success continued with Crisis? What Crisis? in 1975, and Even in the Quietest Moments in 1977, which included the hits 'Give a Little Bit' and 'Fool's Overture.' Still, Supertramp's best days were yet to come, and with the 1979 release of Breakfast in America they had arrived, with four Top 20 hits, including 'The Logical Song,' 'Take the Long Way Home,' 'Breakfast in America' and 'Goodbye Stranger.' Though that was Supertramp's peak of commercial success, they continued recording and performing, tasting modest success with 1982's ?Famous Last Words? and 1985's Brother Where You Bound. Though today's Supertramp is a combination of original players with new talent, Supertramp tickets will give you a chance to hear one of progressive rock's all-time great acts, rife with musicianship and compositional creativity.
