Tantric Tickets - Following the Days of the New
In bringing sort of grunge style ballad that was particularly unheard of in the industry, the quintessential band from Louisville, Kentucky, called Days of the New were phenomenal, but short-lived as the original band members Todd Whitener on guitar, Jesse Vest on bass guitar, and Matt Taul on drums left the band and began the band Tantric with vocalist Hugo Ferreira under the Maverick Records label in 2000. Not that they had any beef with the Days of the New; but there were new days coming, and Tantric was it!
Tantric Tickets - The Music of Tantric
It was obviously a good choice to get this new band going as their self-titled debut album hit gold status with the single 'Breakdown,' followed by another hit single called 'Astounded.' Another tremendous track was 'Mourning.' Only three years later after the apparent success of the debut album did Tantric return with After We Go, another major hit with singles 'Hey Now,' the title track itself, and a cover of Fleetwood Mac's 'The Chain.' The band didn't stop there (even after a major lineup change) when in 2007 frontman Ferreira continued on with Tantric to release a third album by the name of The End Begins released by Silent Majority in 2008. The top single of that album was 'Down and Out.
Tantric Tickets - The Sound and Style of Tantric
This was a band that was especially unique in that you couldn't really fit them into a specific category. They were hard rock, for sure -- but with a bit of jagged country added in. However, they couldn't be labeled as 'country rock' either, because they sort of looked like a grunge rock outfit, sort of like Pearl Jam. That, however, still wasn't a good comparison given some of their songs and their style was a little more upbeat than anything else. They were melodious, even a bit hard-hitting, closer to Creed. In fact, Ferreira practically resembled Scott Stapp of Creed. But all in all, Tantric was in a league all of its own. And that was a major part of their appeal.
