After finishing college, she actually worked an interpretation of the classic ballad 'Tell It to My Heart' and earned herself a contract with Arista Records in 1987 for her first album.

In celebration of the single that earned her contract, her first album came with the same name: Tell It to My Heart, and it was released in early 1988 to pretty decent reviews. Other notable tracks on the album included 'Prove Your Love,' 'I'll Always Love You,' and 'Don't Rush Me.' It was clear that a star was born as her second album was in the works. By the time it was ready for release, teens everywhere were running amock to find an album by the name of Can't Fight Fate, and it spawned several other hits under Dayne's belt like 'With Every Beat of My Heart,' 'I'll Be Your Shelter,' 'Love Will Lead You Back,' and 'Heart of Stone.' She went further with a third album, Send Me a Lover, featuring the single 'Can't Get Enough of Your Love,' and a fourth album -- amazingly enough, thanks to her classic icon status -- called Naked Without You released in 1998.
