Remember the Chemical Brothers? That was the essence of electro-dance music, and it was definitely the rage of the '90s. Go to any club, and you'd hear it constantly. However, this isn't about the Chemical Brothers. Rather, beginning in 1993 as a duo from L.A., Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland, they were the answer to the Brothers in a big way. They were called the Crystal Method. In 1994, the duo ended up signing with Steve Melrose and Justin King's City of Angels imprint to debut their first singles and album to continue on the rave of the 'Rave' scene.

The debut single to start things with the Method was 'Keep Hope Alive.' It was a testament to the L.A. riots of that year. Spurring on some recognition for their funky sound, Geffen Records took notice and had the affiliate Outpost Recordings in 1996 take on the duo to release the official LP entitled Vegas. Four years later, Tweekend followed. Clearly the Crystal Meth wasn't harmful (like the drug of the same name would be) to the music industry as 2004 hailed the release of yet another album entitled Legion of Boom.

Although obviously compared to the Chemical Brothers, know this: they had that and a definite rock band mentality, featuring not only the techno sounds of the genre, but a conglomeration of many other styles, such as acid, funk, big beat, and even hip-hop. Crystal Method -- probably more than any other electro-techno music outfit -- really did reinvent themselves as much as possible to keep the music industry fresh.
