Detroit Cobras Tickets - Garage Rock Detroit Style

Cover bands are -- and don't deny it -- quite popular. They should be. It keeps us excited about the kind of music we love without having to shell out too much money for just a nosebleed section seat. This goes for the Metro City monsters themselves, a band founded in 1995, called the Detroit Cobras. Steve Shaw was the man who began it all -- featuring former exotic dancer Rachel Nagy as the lead singer, Shaw and Maribel Restrepo on guitars, Jeff Meier on bass guitar, and Vic Hill on drums. Rough Trade got wind of the band and signed them for a contract to start the Cobras onslaught of the music industry like no one would ever experience before.

It took a couple self-released albums to get Rough Trade to notice them, though; but once they did, the career was booming as the now major-label band released 2001's Life, love and Leaving in Great Britain. The Cobras continued with 2004's Baby. One of their more popular singles was 'Hot Dog (Watch Me Eat).'

Part of their amazing appeal was the phenomenal garage rock sound mixed with a good amount of R&B. That's right, R&B! How's that for music fusion? And this from a cover band. Pretty tremendous, don't you think? Hopefully the Cobras keep playing, because it's that kind of stuff that keeps the music industry going.
