The Story of The Guardsman tickets
Written by Ferenc Molnar; translated by Grace I. Colbron and Hans Bartsch and directed by John Rando, The Guardsman is a comic play that asks the rhetorical question: is the actor ever truly offstage? With lavish sets by Alexander Dodge, costumes by David Murin, lighting by Mary Louise Geiger and music and sound by Scott Killian, this poignant tale is presented by the Berkshire Theater Festival through July 31st. This new production of the famous script features a talented cast including Jayne Atkinson (the Actress), Stephen DeRosa (a Creditor/Usher), Richard Easton (the Critic), Tara Franklin (Liesel), Michael Gill (the Actor/the Guardsman) and Mary Louise Wilson (Mama). Originally produced on Broadway in 1924, the part was a vehicle for actors Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne. Under the fresh and exciting direction of John Rando, the play remains accessible to modern audiences looking for a great time in the theater.
