70's rock + punk = The Henry Clay People (Created February 20, 2013)

In a time and place where nostalgia can act as a gateway to the future, The Henry Clay People approached it in the right way and in the right time. The Los Angeles band's fourth studio album, "Twenty-Five For The Rest of Our Lives" is a solid collection of guitar rock that strikes a balance between the artists they were and the artists they wish to be.

A punk outfit originally formed by brothers Joey and Andy Siara, The Henry Clay People took its name upon adding current drummer Eric Scott to the mix in 2002. And what the band brought to the table in the early going was a carefree recklessness to their punk vocals, pounding out one album after the next in the same aggressive style they approached live shows. For every record release, there was Lollapalooza, SXSW, Austin City Limits, Coachella, Riot Fest and so many more.

Eventually, the band outgrew its audience of drunk college students and decided to focus more on songwriting and less on concert aesthetics. They garnered a reputation as an outfit that combined 70s rock with punk, citing Neil Young as one of their main influences, along with The Replacements and Jackson Browne. But what they haven't escaped is their name – a play on the obscure 19th century politician Henry Clay that was tossed around with a dozen-or-so other band names and doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things.

The band has always been plugging along, releasing what would actually be their fourth studio album, "Somewhere on the Golden Coact" in June 2010 before eventually landing their first headlining tour. "Twenty-Five For The Rest Of Our Lives" then came along in 2012, a celebration of youth and rock 'n' roll that impressed fans and critics alike.
