Remember that massive garage-rock revival back in the early 2000s, which brought about bands like The Strokes, The White Stripes, The Vines, and - in this case - The Hives? It was like throwing spaghetti against a wall trying to predict which of the aforementioned bands would stick around long enough to actually cement themselves in the contemporary music scene, and fortunately Swedish rockers The Hives have come out on top. While their first album, 1997's "Barely Legal" didn't do much for the band, it was their sophomore effort, 2000's "Veni Vidi Vicious," that earned itself 4/5 stars in Rolling Stone magazine and a slew of adulation and praise from the mainstream media. Featuring hit singles "Hate to Say I Told You So," "Supply and Demand" and "Main Offender," the garage-rock record was ranked No. 244 on Pitchfork Magazine's list of Top 500 songs of 2000-2009, and also made the cut on Rolling Stone Magazine's list of the top 100 albums of the decade, coming in at No. 91.

Since their initial explosion, The Hives have released three more albums under their Interscope music label. Their most recent, 2012's "Lex Hives," saw a departure from the label, and was the first time they would release an album as independent artists. The self-funded and self-produced record debuted at No. 7 on the Swedish album charts. The band is currently wrapping up a tour with chick pop-rocker P!nk, and will soon head off for an international tour which includes a stop at Lollapalooza Chile on April 6.
