Separately, they are two of the biggest music superstars on the planet. Together, Jay-Z and Kanye West make up hip-hop supergroup the ' Throne,' which crisscrossed North America on a 34-date Live Nation- produced run that began on October 28, 2011 in Atlanta, Georgia and wrapped on June 22, 2012 in Birmingham, Alabama. The 'Watch the Throne Tour' was in support of their joint LP, 'Watch the Throne,' which bowed digitally on iTunes on August 8, 2011 and on compact disc four days later. The artists performed tracks from the Throne album, which originally included 12 songs, as well as solo cuts from their respective careers. There are four bonus tracks on the LP's deluxe version. RZA and the Neptunes contributed to the back-end production, while Beyonce, Frank Ocean and Mr Hudson all make guest appearances on the project.Critics praised the production value, stage design and the number of hits featured on the tour. West singles like 'Gold Digger,' 'Stronger,' 'Heartless' and 'All of the Lights' were featured, while Jay-Z singles like 'Izzo (H.O.V.A.),' '99 Problems, 'Run This Town' and 'Empire State of Mind' were also performed. The tour grossed $48.3 million on its North American leg, making it the highest-grossing hip-hop tour and the eighth-highest-grossing tour of 2011. A much shorter European leg began May 20, 2012 at the O2 Arena in London and wrapped June 13 in Birmingham, UK at the LG Arena. It is unknown if more tour dates will be announced, and there is speculation Kanye West may be in the running to join the TV show 'American Idol.'
