You don't find many bands that play like this, which makes the Unwritten Law definitely the law of the land, especially in the heat of Southern California's land and skate and snowboard punky scene. Launched in 1990, vocalist Scott Russo, guitarists Rob Brewer and Steve Morris, bass guitarist John Bell, and drummer Wade Youman got together to create a sort of power pop style that was relatively unheard of, and Epic Records noticed, signing them in 1996.

Blue Room was the title of their first album, and immediately after Epic took hold, a second album followed entitled Oz Factor. It was in the year of 1997 that the Law actually switched labels, going with Interscope Records to release a third album and then even a fourth album. The Law continued its raging trek through the music industry, signing yet again with another label: Lava Records. There was no telling how far the Law was going to go! Some of their most notable tracks are 'Lonesome,' 'Cailin,' and 'Seein' Red.'

What made them truly unique from any other punky pop rock band out there -- such as the Blink 182's and Sum 41's -- was the fact that they played on a much deeper acoustic level. They were more about 'fun' than 'funny,' and they were less 'punk' style and more 'soft rock' but without holding onto any defining edge in their music that drifted them into any other genre. They held onto their own sound. They couldn't be compared to any other band out there.
