Vancouver Whitecaps tickets - History
The 2011 MLS season is the Whitecaps' first in the league. The Whitecaps played in the United Soccer League before they joined the MLS from 1993 to 2010. The Whitecaps won the USL's First Division title in 2006. They also won the Nation's Cup that season. In 2009, MLS commissioner Don Garber welcomed the Whitecaps to the league. They are the 17th team to join Major League Soccer. At the time the Vancouver franchise was unnamed, but decided a year later to keep the Whitecaps name.
Vancouver Whitecaps tickets - The team
Fans that purchased Vancouver Whitecaps tickets for the team's home opener saw their squad defeat Toronto FC, 4-2 in their first game in the league on March 19. The Whitecaps were unable to build any momentum off that inaugural win as they went winless in their next 14 matches. Tom Soehn is the team's head coach. Soehn played for the Dallas Burn and Chicago Fire, and was an assistant coach with the DC United before he became the Whitecaps' coach.
