Warrant Tickets - At the Height of Glam Rock

The year was 1984 -- right smack in the middle of a decade where rockers had long hair, wore tight leather pants, and used their guitars like flashy weapons of glory (but not like the grunge destructive age that Kurt Cobain popularized). Think of Kiss, think of Poison, think of Motley Crue. Without a doubt, though, when the age of sexual awareness was heavy during this time, one band really stood out -- probably next to the iconic band Aerosmith -- and that band was Warrant. Forming in Los Angeles, vocalist Jani Lane, guitarist Erik Turner, guitarist Joey Allen, bass guitarist Jerry Dixon, and drummer Steven Sweet came together to get those riffs going and take it to the man by microphone, solidifying a deal with Columbia Records in 1988 for their debut album.

A year later after their signing, Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich was released, featuring the singles 'Down Boys,' 'Sometimes She Cries,' and 'Heaven.' However, Warrant's probably best known for their hard-hitting and quite sexy-sounding single 'Cherry Pie.' Another smash hit was 'I Saw Red.' Don't pan these guys, though, for being nothing more than a bunch of indulgent lunatics; they had another single as well spur so much popularity, by the name of 'Uncle Tom's Cabin,' a rock ballad that made you want to cry and reach into your soul with introspection.

The Sound and Style of Warrant

As with many glam pop-rockers, Warrant loved to have fun. You could see it as they played. You could hear it in their lyrics. When you think of '80s glam rock, there are many bands that fall in the category. One of them is definitely Warrant.
