It really seemed that the Motor City USA had been bringing in the rap talent all over -- everyone from Eminem to 50 Cent to many others. Truth be told, there really wasn't anything wrong with that given the apparent talent. In addition, a man by the name of Alvin Nathaniel Joiner born on September 18, 1974, had joined those ranks as none other than Xzibit in 1996. But he wasn't alone in his endeavor to make it in the music industry; the label Loud Records took notice for his debut album.

His solo album broke out into the stores by the title of At the Speed of Life in that same year of his label contract, and there was enough buzz about him thanks to one particular single off of the album: 'Paparazzi.' That stirred some notice for his rap flow and allowed a second effort to appear in the industry by the name of 40 Dayz & 40 Nightz in 1998, featuring the hit 'What U See Is What U Get.' Following that, he became quite the household name, working with such artists as Snoop Dogg on the single 'B Please' and Eminem's hit 'What's the Difference.' When his third album Restless came out, he for sure had embodied the title, working with a slew of superstars like KRS-One, Nate Dogg, DJ Quik, Sir Jinx, Rick Rock, Soopafly, Battlecat, and of course Snoop Dogg and Eminem once again. That was the year 2000, and it was clear that opened several doors to the entertaining personality and talent Xzibit exhibited.

While not being as hardcore or gangster as 50 Cent or Dr. Dre and not as fresh and funny as Eminem, he proved to be somewhat of that happy medium. Funky like Busta Rhymes, but simple like Warren G, Xzibit not only proved he could make it in the rap business, but in several other facets of the entertainment industry as well.
