Zac Brown Band joins the No Shoes Nation (Updated April 17, 2013)

The fusion of an airy, bluegrass style into their 'own' brand of country music has carried the Zac Brown Band pretty far. And it will take them a few more miles in 2013, as the band continues to log frequent flier miles to showcase their strong vocals, talented musicians and meaningful lyrics.

On the heels of a win for Best Country Album at the 2013 Grammy Awards, Zac Brown and his boys have been everywhere. From small arenas to large festivals, from Austin, Texas to Sydney, Australia, the band has been rocking the socks off of fans worldwide. Along the way they've been playing new music, including a brand new tune called "New Day" they debuted at the inaugural Deni Blues and Roots Festival .

Coming up, the Zac Brown Band will join some of country's brightest stars on one of music's biggest summer tours. Along with newcomer Kacey Musgraves and Eli Young Band, they'll be along for the ride with Eric Church as part of Kenny Chesney's "No Shoes Nation" tour. And even though they're only playing three of the 19 stadium concerts, one of those dates is a co-headlining gig in their hometown of Atlanta.

The Zac Brown Band also made a splash in April when it headlined AT&T's Block Party at the NCAA Big Dance. It came two months after they performed at the Daytona 500 Budweiser Pre-Race Show leading up to the start of "The Great American Race" at Daytona International Speedway.

If the music industry had a model for unconventional paths to superstardom, the Zac Brown Band surely got its start by trekking down one of them. The band -- comprised of lead singer and guitarist Zac Brown, Jimmy De Martini (fiddle, vocals), John Driskell Hopkins (bass guitar, vocals), Coy Bowles (guitar, keyboards), Chris Fryar (drums), Clay Cook (guitar, keyboards, mandolin, steel guitar, vocals) and Daniel de los Reyes (percussion) – got its start in Georgia, traveled the Southeast in an airport shuttle bus and eventually signed to a major label that didn't even have a Nashville office.

It all seems like ancient history now that the Zac Brown Band has a decade on the road, four studio albums and a multitude of smash hits to its name -- "Chicken Fried" and "Toes" among them. With a country-folk sound meshed with southern rock and reggae, they have captured multiple Country Music Assn. (CMA) and Academy of Country Music (ACM) award nominations and the highly coveted 2010 best new artist Grammy.

Not bad for a band whose frontman wears knit beanie caps was told he would never fit in the country music world.

Along with the aforementioned singles, other cuts like "Highway 20 Ride" and "Free" each topped the Billboard Hot Country Song chart. The band has collaborated with artists like Alan Jackson on "As She's Walking Away" and Jimmy Buffet on "Knee Deep." On tour they became known for elongated instrumentals, strong vocals and a 'no boundaries' approach learned from supporting stadium dates with the Dave Matthews Band.

In just a year's time, the touring growth of the Zac Brown Band more than tripled in large markets. They routinely sell out indoor and outdoor venues, and are currently on the road in support of their latest album, "Uncaged."
