Arizona State Sun Devils Football Details
The Sun Devils have won two national championships in program history (1970, 1975), and the hope is that head coach Todd Graham will soon have them playing at that level once again. The team would also gladly accept an 18th conference title, and Graham knows what it takes to get that job done. He has had some very successful seasons as the head coach of this Sun Devils team, as Arizona State went 10-4 in 2013 and 10-3 in 2014. Considering Graham has already made this program relevant again, it’s not hard to imagine there being some very important games at Sun Devil Stadium soon. In fact, the night games in Tempe have been rowdy over the past few years—and that is with a team that has underperformed.
The Sun Devils got some incredible news after the 2016 season, as they were able to land quarterback Blake Barnett as a transfer. Barnett was originally the starter for Alabama last season, but he was replaced after struggling a bit in the opener against USC. He is, however, a very good quarterback, and the Sun Devils are lucky to have him. This offense has lacked a true pocket passer in recent years, so Graham is going to do everything he can to make use of him. Arizona State also happens to have a very good running game too. Both Demario Richard and Kalen Ballage are capable of winning games for their team, and they’ll both be used frequently this season. Richard makes more plays all over the field, but Ballage is one of the best redzone backs in football.
