Baltimore Ravens Playoff Tickets

Despite only joining the NFL in 1996, the Baltimore Ravens are already multiple-time Super Bowl Champions and frequent playoff challengers. Success came early for the Ravens, winning their first Lombardi Trophy only four seasons into their existence as a team and securing postseason appearances virtually every year of the early-2000s.

The young organization made moves fast, drafting future Hall of Famers Ray Lewis and Jonathan Ogden in 1996 and hiring Brian Billick as their head coach in 1999. Behind Lewis’ Defensive Player of the Year 2000 season, the Ravens defense dominated the AFC. Their postseason was full of lopsided victories: 21-3 versus the Denver Broncos, 24-10 versus the Tennessee Titans, and 16-3 to secure the AFC Championship over the Oakland Raiders.

Super Bowl XXXV followed the same trend. Ravens Quarterback Trent Dilfer, locked-in at the opportunity to win in the same city that ran him out of town (Tampa Bay), connected with wide receiver Brandon Stokley for a 38-yard touchdown in the first quarter. The stout Ravens defense forced five turnovers and allowed only 152 offensive yards. The only bright spot for the opposing Giants? A kickoff return for a touchdown in the third quarter. However, the Ravens’ Jermaine Lewis immediately countered with 84-yard kickoff return touchdown of his own. Final score: Ravens 34, Giants 7. Ray Lewis paired his DPOY designation with the title of Super Bowl MVP.

The post-Super Bowl years saw the Ravens try to regain their footing. In the following 2001 season, the Ravens lost to the rival Pittsburgh Steelers in the divisional round; the Ravens would later retaliate by stymying the Steeler’s otherwise perfect season with a brutal defeat in 2005. The Ravens lost their next two playoff campaigns early, first to the Tennessee Titans in 2003 and next to the Baltimore-maligned Indianapolis Colts in 2006.

A new-look Ravens emerged in 2008 with Quarterback Joe Flacco, Running Back Ray Rice, and rookie head coach John Harbaugh. The Ravens defeated the Titans in the AFC Divisional Round but lost to the Steelers in the AFC Championship and missed the Super Bowl. The Colts, again, forced the Ravens out of contention in the 2009 Divisional Round; as did the Steelers in 2010. The New England Patriots defeated the Ravens in the 2011 AFC Championship.

2012 was a return-to-form for the Ravens. In the postseason, the Ravens finally routed the Colts and avenged their 2011 AFC Championship loss with a comeback victory over the Patriots. They faced the San Francisco 49ers in Super XLVII. After a stadium blackout cut the Raven’s 28-6 momentum in the 3rd Quarter, the Ravens barely held onto their lead and iced their victory with a safety in the waning seconds of the game. Flacco was the Super Bowl MVP.
