Directed by Alex Timbers with music and lyrics by Michael Friedman, rock musical Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson re-imagines Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States of America as an emo rockstar. The play, which debuted in 2009 at the Public Theater, proved to the theatrical community that a younger, downtown crowd could generate interest from mainstream crowds when it got picked up for a Broadway run in September 2010. Starring talented performers such as Greg Hildreth, Lisa Joyce, Colleen Werthmann and Maria Elena Ramirez, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson showcased top-notch New York talent. Despite opening to favorite reviews and Tony buzz, the production came to a close on Janurary 2011, after 120 performances. As theatrically cultured fans await the news of the script's theatrical rights or talks of a national tour, they also await news of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson tickets with baited breath.
