Boston College Eagles Basketball Details
Once a perennial Big East contender, the Boston College Eagles made the move to the ACC in 2005. This came in the midst of what may be the most successful decade in the team’s history, as the Eagles qualified for the NCAA Tournament seven times between 2000 and 2010. While the team holds numerous accolades -- 18 total NCAA Tournament appearances, first Big East team to start a season with 20 wins, three-time conference tournament champion -- BC has never broken through past the Elite Eight of March Madness, and thus has yet to claim a national title.
Jim Christian, head coach of the Eagles since 2014, will be looking to change that in the coming years. Though Christian has not yet guided the team to a winning season, he has proven skilled at developing his players, helping guard Olivier Hanlan to First Team All-ACC and a second-round NBA draft pick in 2015. Hanlan joins a long list of fellow BC alums in the pros, among them Michael Adams, Dana Barros, and Jared Dudley, the 2006-07 ACC Player of the Year. For the upcoming 2017-2018 season, the Eagles will be joined by four new freshman recruits who are hoping to make a difference on the court. The four have been training all summer and are determined to help rebuild the team. The Eagles will make their tenth appearance in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge this November where they will be playing Nebraska for the first time. Certainly, Boston College has an exciting season ahead.
