Boston College Eagles Basketball Details
Boston is a big city that also happens to be a great college town. Sure, you can make time there to see the Patriots, Red Sox or Celtics. But if you want to watch some college hoops action, you need to get yourself to the campus of Boston College.
The Eagles play in the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Atlantic Division with Clemson, Florida State, Louisville, NC State, Notre Dame, Syracuse and Wake Forest. They also host national powerhouses North Carolina and Duke, who compete in the Coastal Division.
BC has played basketball since 1904, with the sport becoming a permanent part of the athletics program in 1945-46 season. The Eagles reached the NCAA’s Elite Eight in 1967, 1982 and 1994.
The Eagles had four conference players of the year while in the Big East: John Bagley (1983), Troy Bell (2002 & 2003) and Jared Dudley (2007). They’ve also had some notable coaches, including Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Bob Cousy, two-time NBA champion Chuck Daly, and NCAA champion Gary Williams.
BC plays home games in Conte Forum, which holds approximately 8,600 fans and has been open since 1988. In addition to men’s and women’s basketball, the facility is also the home of the Eagles’ ice hockey teams.
Getting to Conte is pretty easy from most locations in Boston, as the the Green Line B, C, and D trains all have stops within walking distance. The arena resides six miles from downtown in beautiful Chestnut Hill.
