About Breaking Benjamin
Hiatus breaks Breaking Benjamin (updated March 6, 2013)
In 2010 after a long period of speculation by fans and by the media, Ben Burnley stated publicly for the first time that he suffers from a number of ailments. Among them are chronic fatigue syndrome, as well as permanent neurological damage after years of heavy drinking. As a result, Breaking Benjamin was forced into an indefinite hiatus due to Burnley's inability to record and tour.
As the band members went their separate ways – Fink and Klepaski to rejoin their old band, Lifer, and Szeliga to tour with his other band, OurAfter – a remixed version of "Blow Me Away" caused a dispute among the already fractured group. The song, which had been recorded specifically for the 2004 first-person shooter video game Halo 2, was remixed and released on June 7, 2011. An animated video followed in August.
In May 2011, Burnley fired both Fink and Klepasksi, stating in a court filing that the two made unauthorized decisions on behalf of the band, including the remixing of the song. Thus, Burnley sought monetary damages and exclusive rights to the "Breaking Benjamin" name, with plans to resurrect the band once the lawsuit was settled.
Despite Szeliga expressing in February 2012 that Breaking Benjamin was still together, Burnley toured solo and played several acoustic dates in the months that followed. That included stops at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom in New Hampshire and the House of Blues in Atlantic City, with the set list including a collection of Breaking Benjamin songs and 'various other surprises.'
Breaking Benjamin Tickets** - The Razor Angst of Hard Rock at Its Best
In the town of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, a quartet came together to bring out some of the best in alt metal style the music industry ever saw -- it was the band called Breaking Benjamin. Featuring the powerful lyrics and vocals and rhythm guitar of Ben Burnley, guitarist Aaron Fink, bass guitarist Mark James Klepaski, and Jeremy Hummel on drums, this band tore through the fabric that was alternative metal and earned them a chance at a record deal with Hollywood Records in 2001.
Breaking Benjamin Tickets - The Music of Breaking Benjamin
Their first full-length album was titled Saturate, and it was released back in 2002 with some spark for their talent. Two years later, they came out with We Are Not Alone and also landed a spot with the Evanescence tour, featuring two hit singles, 'So Cold' and 'Sooner or Later.' It was obvious Breaking Benjamin wasn't going anywhere as they came out with a third album called Phobia in 2006 with the iconic smash hits 'The Diary of Jane' and 'Breath,' but they then really outdid themselves with the fourth album called Dear Agony, featuring the immortal powerhouse song 'I Will Not Bow, featured in the Surrogates soundtrack with Bruce Willis.
Breaking Benjamin Tickets - The Sound and Style of Breaking Benjamin
When you hear the sultry sounds of Burnley on vocals, you'd get a sense of serenity, except he really knows how to rage on the microphone, plus he has this devilish look about them that screams the dark 'frontman' of an angsty alt metal band. The guitar riffs rocked, of course, and continue to rock as long as they make music.
