Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band Details

Ask 100 music fans to name the greatest active band in rock and roll and you’ll have a great debate. But ask for the best Americangroup on tour today and it’s hard to argue against Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. Formed in the beach town of Belmar, New Jersey, in 1972—although they wouldn’t officially take their name until two years later—the band has had a few lineup changes over the years but the longtime core of Springsteen, his wife Patti Scialfa, Steven Van Zandt, and Garry Tallent continue to deliver the most hard rocking, crowd-pleasing and encore-filled ticket that money can buy.

The E Street Band’s “Summer ’17” tour actually started on January 22 in Perth, Australia. Springsteen is famous for giving his loyal fans a rich mix of hits, B-sides, obscurities and covers. So far in 2017, the set list has spanned The Boss’s entire career with fresh and faithful performances of “Born to Run,” “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out,” “Thunder Road,” “Wrecking Ball,” and “Cover Me” to name just a few. In total the 2017 tour has included performances of more than 90 different songs and counting, some—like classic covers of Elvis (“Follow That Dream”) and Creedence Clearwater Revival (“Who’ll Stop the Rain”)—having been performed only once. There are Springsteen super fans (they call themselves Bruce Tramps, by the way) that build their schedules around attending his live performances wherever they may be because the shows change and vary so much from one to another. If you’re looking for a summer show worth seeing again, and again, and again, this is the one.
