Christina Aguilera Details
A native New Yorker, Christina Aguilera started her career at a young age and quickly grew into one of the greatest pop powerhouses the music industry has ever seen. Music served as a pleasant escape for Christina who has opened up over the years about some challenges she faced during her childhood. As a young girl, Christina appeared on television shows including Star Search and The Mickey Mouse Club alongside Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling, and Britney Spears.
When Christina was just 18 years old, she was commissioned to record the theme song, “Reflection,” for the hit Disney film Mulan. Following the success of that recording, the star signed with RCA Records. In 1999, Christina came out with the hit song, “Genie in a Bottle.” The hit pop track peaked atop the Billboard Hot 100 and record charts of 20 other countries. In fact, the song remains one of the greatest-selling singles in the world today.
Christina Aguilera’s self-titled album peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 and was certified eight times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). In 2002, the pop star released a new album, Stripped, and a corresponding new image for herself. She adopted the alter ego “Xtina,” dyed her hair black, and debuted several tattoos and piercings. The following year, she joined Justin Timberlake as they embarked on the Justified and Stripped Tour.
While the singer’s appearance and musical style has changed throughout the years, Christina Aguilera still has one of the most powerful voices in the industry. She can belt out notes that many others cannot even attempt. Her vocals are often compared to the likes of Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. It’s not surprising that Aguilera has taken home so many awards over the years, including Grammy Awards for Best New Artist, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, and many more.
