The Chainsmokers in Las Vegas
DJ duo The Chainsmokers, made up of Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall, are one of, if not the hottest, act in electronic music right now. Though the group has been making music for a number of years — notably with their first number one single, Closer, in the summer of 2016 — they really started to make waves in 2017 following their January release of the hit single Paris. That song was an international sensation, and was followed by their debut album, titled Memories…Do Not Open, which was released the following April. That included yet another smash hit: a collaboration with Coldplay titled Something Just Like This. Memories…Do Not Open debuted as a Billboard No. 1 album, and Something Just Like This has been a radio staple ever since.
The duo’s tour, titled the Memories Do Not Open Tour, was one of the hottest of 2017, with more than 70 shows in some of the world’s biggest arenas. Notably, the Chainsmokers took one of their fans on tour — a Berklee College of Music student — because they were impressed with his piano cover of one of their songs.
Following their world tour, The Chainsmokers have set up shop in Las Vegas for a number of shows as part of a residency (similar to Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden, but with a different audience in mind). Taking place at the Xs the Nightclub at Encore, these shows are known to be some of the best that EDM has to offer right now, and a must-see for any visitors to Las Vegas. Vegas shows are currently scheduled through the end of 2017, but more may be announced in the future.
