SZA in St. Louis
Those who aren’t familiar with R&B up-and-comer SZA better take notice: the St. Louis native may be on her way to being the next big thing in music. Born Solana Rowe, SZA had been putting our music for a couple years before being signed by Kendrick Lamar’s label, Top Dawg Entertainment, in 2013. She featured on a number of her labelmates’ songs, including tracks from Isaiah Rashad and Schoolboy Q. Her debut studio EP, called Z, was released in April of 2014, and that year she also wrote songs for popular artists such as Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, and Rihanna.
SZA’s real breakout, though, came with her 2017 debut album release, titled Ctrl. Ctrl debuted at number three on the US Billboard charts, SZA performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and the artist set out on a tour in August of that year. The album received much critical acclaim, and is sure to be prominently featured on the lists of 2017’s best music by the end of the year.
SZA will be returning to her hometown of STL for shows at one of the city;s best venues, The Ready Room, on December 17 and December 19, 2017. These are sure to be some of the hottest tickets of the year, and the hometown crowds are already abuzz with excitement for the upcoming performances.
