Controversial playwright Neil Labute makes his much anticipated Broadway directorial debut in Fat Pig, a story about the romance between Helen, a plus-size librarian and Tom, a stereotypical professional who is in shape. The play examines how society views those who are overweight and focuses on the repercussions that the couple faces by dating a woman who does not fit the ideal vision of beauty in modern day. The show, which originally opened in 2004 at the MCC Theater in New York City and was directed by Jo Bonney, gained various accolades such as the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Play (2005) and a nomination for the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy (2005). Now set to open at the Belasco Theatre in 2012, Fat Pig is set to star actors such as Dane Cook (Carter) and Julia Stiles (Jeannie). Since the April 2011 premiere was pushed back a year, fans highly anticipate Fat Pig tickets which will be available at SeatGeek.com.
