Foo Fighters Details
In October of 1994, former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl found himself without a band to play with and a notebook full of songs he’d written that he knew he needed to record. Offers to join other established heavy rock and grunge bands came pouring in, but Dave decided to follow his gut instead and do what no one would have expected him to do as a drummer. He turned all those offers down, then chose 15 of those secretly penned songs, booked some studio time, and recorded the entire album (except the guitar part on “X-Static”) by himself. He performed every instrument and every vocal, completing the entire album in just 5 days and distributing it among his friends and family as the band, Foo Fighters. The album, also titled “Foo Fighters”, ended up in the hands of more than one record label, quashing his plans of remaining anonymous and sending him scrambling to form a band to support the album.
Incredibly, Foo Fighters made its live public debut by February 1995, an astounding 4 months after Dave Grohl originally recorded the record as a solo project. The band was well-received with Dave Grohl as its frontman, proving that the former drummer turned songwriter was far more talented than he’d ever imagined. The band evolved into the powerhouse they are today, touching fans all over the world with their songs and unique sound.
Foo Fighters has been nominated for more than 90 awards, including more than 25 Grammy Awards. They have won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album 4 times, and in 2018 their song, “Run”, won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Song. In total, they have won more than 10 Grammy Awards as well as many other awards from various entities in the industry.
Foo Fighters Concert Setlist
Foo Fighters are known for their unique sound, insightful lyrics, and heavy electric guitar presence in many of their songs. But more than anything, Foo Fighters are known for their phenomenal hit, “Learn to Fly”. Fans can expect to hear that favorite track in addition to many of the band’s top hits, including “Everlong” and “Best of You”. “The Pretender” is another favorite that eases fans in with a poignant intro, while the song gradually makes its way into the amped-up masterpiece that shows off what the Foo Fighters are best at. Lyric heavy “Something from Nothing” makes the setlist as well, proving that Foo Fighters don’t need their typical heavy rock style to make a profound impression on their loyal fans.
Foo Fighters in Concert
Foo Fighters give quite a concert, filled with energy and all the hallmarks of a true hard rock band. The band is very involved with concertgoers, even going as far as accepting requests from the audience right there during the live show. Accomplished musicians, Foo Fighters weaves several epic instrumentals into their sets, building the already impossibly high energy to a fever pitch and giving fans the exact experience they came for.
