Indiana Hoosiers Basketball Details
After years of unhappy fans, the Indiana Hoosiers let go of head coach Tom Crean after nine years. Crean led the Hoosiers to a very disappointing 18-16 season, finishing 10th in the Big Ten and missing out on the NCAA Tournament. Now, the Hoosiers must get back to winning ways with new head coach Archie Miller, who comes over from the Dayton Flyers. Miller will look to lead the Hoosiers to victory throughout the season, playing in Bloomington’s famously boisterous Assembly Hall.
The team will be filled with some uncertainty, as sophomore forward OH Anunoby left for the NBA Draft after last season. Anunoby missed most of last season with an injury, but was a force on the floor, averaging 11.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. James Blackmon Jr. also left for the NBA and his leadership and 17.4 points per game will be missed. However, his younger brother, Vijay Blackmon will look to add a spark to a depleted Hoosier backcourt. Another loss for Indiana is center Thomas Bryant who left for the NBA after a sophomore year that saw him average 12.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per contest. Guard Robert Johnson returns for his senior season after averaging nearly 13 points last season, while fellow senior guard Josh Newkirk should see increased playing time as well. Seniors Freddie McSwain, Collin Hartman, and Tim Priller also return to help mentor the young guys. The Hoosiers bring in three freshmen this season, including guard Al Durham, along with forwards Clifton Moore and Justin Smith.
