Lil Uzi Vert Details

Lil Uzi Vert, born Symere Woods in 1994 in Philadelphia, PA, is a successful American hip hop recording artist, rapper, and songwriter. It wasn’t until high school that Uzi actually began rapping with the encouragement of his friends. He was lucky enough to be discovered by Don Cannon, an American hip hop and R&B record producer, who heard his music and reached out. Lil Uzi Vert had released his debut single, “Money Longer”, which Cannon heard DJ Diamond Kuts play on the radio one day.

Uzi later signed a record deal with Don Cannon and Leighton Morrison's record label, Generation Now. From there, Uzi gained further attention after he was featured on Carnage's single “WDYW” with ASAP Ferg and Rich the Kid in 2015. Later that year, Uzi released his third mixtape, “Luv Is Rage.” Guest features included the likes of Wiz Khalifa and Young Thug. Over the next year and a half, Uzi would release a fourth and fifth mixtape, “Lil Uzi Vert vs. the World” and “The Perfect Luv Tape” respectively.

Through his collaborations, Lil Uzi Vert has found great success. In fact, his collaboration with rap group Migos on the hit single “Bad and Boujee” is one of his greatest accomplishments to date. The single reached number 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and became Uzi’s first number one single as a featured artist.

In August of 2017, Lil Uzi Vert released his first studio album, “Luv Is Rage 2.” The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart. Since his rise to fame, Uzi has not only earned a name for himself, but the industry has recognized his accomplishments as well. In 2017, he was awarded the BET Award for Best Collaboration, as well as the MTV Video Music Award for the Best Song of the Summer.
