Luke Bryan Details
To put it nicely, some of today’s country music stars aren’t quite as authentically “country” as some of the legends of the genre were known to be. Not Luke Bryan. Bryan grew up in the tiny town of Leesburg, Georgia, spending whole afternoons working on his father’s peanut farm. But as anyone who has listened to Bryan’s music can attest, he projects a vibe that’s more at home in frats than it is on the farm. He’s the real deal on that front, too: He was a Sigma Chi at Georgia Southern. Simply put, Luke Bryan is the total package in the modern country music landscape.
From the time he released his debut studio album I’ll Stay Me has been a fixture at the top of the American country charts. I’ll Stay Me hit No. 2 on the country charts, and so did his follow-up, 2009’s Doin’ My Thing. That sophomore album also provided his first two No. 1 singles, the winking “Rain is a Good Thing” and the classic country downer “Someone Else Calling You Baby.” Since then, he’s been unstoppable. From 2011’s “I Don’t Want This Night to End” to 2016’s “Fast,” 14 of Bryan’s 15 singles have topped the US Country Airplay charts, with “That’s My Kind of Night” just missing out at a peak of No. 2. His two most recent albums, 2013’s Crash My Party and 2015’s Kill the Lights not only topped the country charts, but also spent time at No. 1 on the US charts at large.
