One of the greatest salsa artists of all time is American singer and songwriter, Marc Anthony. The artist began his career as a vocalist for freestyle and underground house music in New York and later worked as a songwriter and backup vocalist for the Latin Rascals. After releasing a handful of freestyle albums, Marc Anthony changed his style from freestyle to salsa and Latin styles. In 1993 he released his debut salsa album, Otra Nota, followed by the 1995 album Todo a su tiempo, which won Marc Anthony a Billboard award for Hot Tropical artist of the year and was later established as a gold record in the US. Marc Anthony’s third album Contra La Corriente was released in 1997 and later became the first salsa album to hit the English language Billboard 200 chart. Marc Anthony has won numerous accolades and recognitions, including a lifetime achievement award from the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) in 2006. His music is inspired by rhythm, blues and house music, resulting in beats sure to make you want to hit the dance floor.
