When most people think of Minnesota sports, hockey is the first thing that comes to mind. But the Minnesota Timberwolves have spent plenty of time as a fun and competitive team in the NBA, thanks to regularly putting plenty of talented players on their rosters over the years. When several postseason appearances to their name, and some memorable moments along the way, the Wolves are a proud NBA franchise.

The highest profile era in Wolves history would have to be the era of Kevin Garnett. Brought into the league in the mid-1990s, Garnett brought an intensity and a fire that not many players in the history of the NBA could replicate if they tried. That intensity was present both on and off the court, but on the court it was shown through tenacious defending and an ability to score in a variety of different ways. Garnett was a player that teammates loved, including those on the Timberwolves.

Minnesota basketball fans also loved the fact that the Wolves made the playoffs in eight straight seasons with Garnett in town. But those successful teams weren't all thanks to Garnett. Head coach Flip Saunders was a legend in Minnesota for guiding those teams to so many playoff appearances, to the point that he was involved with the team from an operations standpoint when he returned as the team's head coach later in his career.

The Timberwolves had something of a rivalry with the Los Angeles Lakers during the Kevin Garnett era. While there was never any bad blood, Garnett and the rest of the team were thwarted from winning the titles many felt like they could have won if not for the extremely successful Lakers teams of that era.
