Mississippi State Bulldogs Football Details
Mississippi State has never won a national championship, but the Bulldogs have one conference title and are on the upswing under head coach Dan Mullen. Mississippi State has made only 20 bowl appearances in program history, but Mullen has led the team to seven consecutive bowl games. The Bulldogs are an impressive 5-2 in those games, and things should only get better with Mullen in charge. He is one of the brightest offensive minds in the game, so fans in Starkville should continue to expect this Bulldogs team to continue to put up big point totals moving forward.
If you need an evidence of how good of an offensive coach Mullen can be, then look no further than Dak Prescott. Prescott played four years at Mississippi State, and he was electric in that time. Things haven’t changed for the signal caller, as he has taken the NFL by storm with the Dallas Cowboys. And things haven’t changed in Starkville either, as the team continues to thrive at the quarterback position. The man under center now is Nick Fitzgerald, who threw for 2,423 yards with 21 touchdowns in 2016. Fitzgerald, however, is just as good of a runner as he is a passer, as he also added 1,375 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground last year. He is an absolute stud at the quarterback position, and he should terrorize SEC opponents this season. It also wouldn’t be surprising if he follows in Prescott’s footsteps and ends up playing on Sundays one day.
