North Carolina Tar Heels Football Details
The University of North Carolina Tar Heels football team is certainly trending in the right direction under the leadership of head coach Larry Fedora, who has been guiding Chapel Hill since 2012. Heading into the 2017 season, Fedora holds a record of 40-25 as the head coach of North Carolina. He has led the team to four consecutive bowl games, and the basketball-loving fans in Chapel Hill have a new sense of excitement come football season these days. These fans expect this team to win games, and Fedora has every intention to deliver. The Tar Heels play their home games at Kenan Memorial Stadium, which seats 63,000 fans. North Carolina has won five ACC conference titles in program history, and the school is hoping that a strong home-field advantage will play a major factor in the team winning a sixth in the near future.
While it’s never easy to replace a guy like Mitchell Trubisky, who was drafted second overall by the Chicago Bears in 2017, the Tar Heels are lucky to have graduate transfer Brandon Harris under center. Harris threw for 2,756 yards with 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions over three years at LSU. He never quite fit in as a Tiger, despite—or perhaps because of—the great expectations placed upon him. Fortunately for Harris, North Carolina’s offense features a ton of predetermined reads. His talent has never been a question, so defenses will have a ton of trouble defending him and this offense.
