Once On This Island Tickets

Written by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, Once on This Island is a glimpse into life on the archipelagos of the French Antilles. Based on the 1985 novel My Love, My Love; or, The Peasant Girl by Rosa Guy, Once on This Island follows a peasant girl as she uses the power of love to bring people of different social classes together. Originally running in the 90s, Once on This Island received more than a dozen nominations, winning the 1995 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical. The revival has already won a 2017 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical in addition to several nominations.

The 2017 revival of Once on This Island opened with beloved Broadway actress Lea Salonga taking on the role of Erzulie, the Goddess of Love. The multitalented singer and actress is best-known for her vocal work on Mulan and Aladdin, as well as starring in the wildly successful Miss Saigon in the principal role as Kim at the tender age of 18. She went on to win several awards for her work on Miss Saigon, including a Tony Award. She also portrayed Eponine in Les Misérables 10th anniversary concert and Fantine in the 25th anniversary concert.

Hailey Kilgore opened the revival in the principal role as Ti Moune, the peasant girl. Once on This Island is her first Broadway production, and won the Broadway.com Audience Award for Favorite Leading Actress in a Musical. She was also nominated in the category of Favorite Female Breakthrough Performance.

The show also opened with Alex Newell as Asaka (Mother of the Earth), bringing the character to life and thrilling audiences with his powerful performance. Alex Newell is best-known for playing student Unique Adams on the television musical series Glee.

Once on This Island Dates

The revival of Once on This Island opened at Circle in the Square Theatre on Broadway. The first preview was November 9, 2017, and the show was launched December 3, 2017. Once on This Island plays several times each week with evening and afternoon shows depending on the day.

Once on This Island Runtime

Similar to most stage productions, Once on This Island runs about two hours with one intermission, though it can run longer or shorter like any live show.
